Gus Hansen Eliminated from WSOP

marky on July 13th, 2008

Gus Hansen has been eliminated from the World Series of Poker after close to 3 hours of play on Day 5 of the tournament.

23 year old Jeremy Joseph went all in holding only an Ace high which Gus called with a straight draw but it wasn’t enough to win and the Ace held on.  This really crippled Gus and the next hand did him in.  Gus went all in on after seeing the flop on the next hand giving him high pair with an ace kicker.  He was called by Chris Crilly who caught a nine high straight on the river.

Gus finished in 160th place and won $41,816.

Wow, what a gambler!

I was watching this when it first happened on Television and it is honestly the moment I fell in love with Poker and Gus Hasen as a player.  I think this one play has more to do with Gus Hansen’s reputation (that he will play ANY 2 cards) then any other moment in his carrer… thank god the cameras were rolling.

Basicially Antonio Esfandiari goes all in with a pocket pair and Gus calls…. with TEN HIGH.  You gotta see it to beleive it I swear.  Like, you don’t even see plays like this in online poker!

World Series Of Poker Day 2

marky on July 10th, 2008

1250 players began on day one, and only 466 survived to compete against each other on day two.  Thankfully our main man Gus Hasen was among those that managed to last.  Way to go Gus!  Could this lead to his first WSOP Bracelet?  Only time will tell?

And if you ever thought about going to the big time in the world of poker, and maybe winning a bracelet or two yourself one day, it’s becoming more and more common for pros and rookies to use online poker to hone their craft.  Ya never know, you could be the next poker legend!!  Sing up now at fulltiltpoker.com

High Stakes Poker… Literally!

In this clip, from the second season of High Stakes Poker, we see Gus Hansen and Daniel Negreanu play a hand that turns into the biggest pot in the shows entire history!!  Huge pots like this are not that common, even in No Limit games, but Gus Hansen has been known to bet big in the Full Tilt Poker rooms this year to make some easy money.  So far so good, but maybe one of those pot could be yours!
